Dear humans,
It's the first time that I have written to you,my children. I sent you some messages before. But you always overlooked(忽略)them. So I wanted to write you a letter.
In the very beginning, let me tell you more about our family. Dear humans, besides you,I have many other children. Some fly in the sky;some swim in water;some live in ice-covered places;some run in the grasslands.
Some are as small as your fingernails(手指甲),such as bugs;some are as big as cars, such as elephants.
They might be very close to you,or even live in your house. But there are others that you may never meet.
You bring them home to be your pets, friends and helpers. You put them in zoos. You hunt(捕猎)them for their meat and fur. And you even hunt them for fun. They bring you money and happiness, but they also bring illness(疾病)and death.
I hope you can remember that wild(野生的)animals are not your food or clothes. They are not killers(杀手)either. They are,in fact, your brothers and sisters. You should grow up together.
Dear humans, you are really clever and hard-working. You have colourful cultures and advanced technologies(先进的科技). You can decide(决定)where you go,and also where I go.
But you don't respect(尊重)me. You change my weather,my lands,my forests,my rivers... You ask so much from me,more than what I can give you. I'm worried that one day you will be lonely(孤独的).
So,humans, grow up to be more responsible(负责任的)and I believe you and all the wildlife can live happily in my arms.
Yours,
Mother Earth
