Dan, a food expert(专家), answers students’ questions.
Marcel: I never eat any meat or fish. My friends say I can’t get enough protein(蛋白质)from my food. Is this true?
Dan: That’s a good question, Marcel. Protein is very important. It gives you strength(力气). There’s protein in meat and fish, but if you don’t eat them, don’t worry. There’s also protein in eggs, milk, nuts(坚果)and beans.
Jenny: I love candy, chocolate and ice cream. Is this a problem?
Dan: I like those things too, Jenny. There are a lot of carbohydrates(碳水化合物), sugar and fat in sweet snacks, so I only eat them once a week. Carbohydrates aren’t always bad. You need them for energy. But a lot of sugar and fat is not good.
Isabel: I know fruit has lots of vitamins, but I just don’t like any fruit! What can I do?
Dan: Vitamins help your body work well. It’s true that fruit is rich in(富含)vitamins, but they are also in food like vegetables, fish and meat. You can also try a
smoothie. Put some bananas, apples, strawberries and yogurt with some orange juice in a blender(搅拌机). It’s great!
