Huazhou shadow puppetry(皮影)is a folk(民俗的)art in Weinan，Shaanxi. It's been around for over 2，000 years. The artists there are working hard to make it even better and more popular.
At the age of 14，Xue Hongquan began to learn shadow puppetry. Now，he makes the puppets bigger and move more like people. He also uses new art styles(样式)together with the old ones.
In 2015，Xue made a group，and the people in this group were young. Together，they made more than 10 new shadow puppetry plays. Most of them were popular with the people. In 2023，they made a play about Ne Zha. This made shadow puppets，cartoons，and movies together. It was a big success(成功).
Xue thinks it's important to keep the old art alive. He did a lot of things to make it come true. At last，Huazhou was given the name of “the hometown of Chinese folk culture and art” in 2021.
