Have you ever paid a visit to Changsha? What tourist attractions(旅游景点) there do you know? For those who want to take a trip to Changsha, Orange Island(橘子洲) is a good choice.
Orange Island is regarded as the "treasure" of Changsha. It is located in the centre of the Xiangjiang River. It connects Mount Yuelu in the west and the downtown in the east, with a length of 5,000 metres. Orange Island has a total area of about 916, 400 m². In 1925, Chairman Mao returned to Hunan. In the late autumn on Orange Island, he wrote the well-known poem Qin Yuan Chun—Changsha which can be found in Chinese textbooks. From then on, Orange Island became famous.
Later, the Changsha government began to build Orange Island Park on the island. There people can see a huge stone statue(雕像) of Chairman Mao, with a length of 83 metres, a width of 41 metres and a height of 32 metres. It can be one of the main reasons why Orange Island is getting more and more famous.
Nowadays, Orange Island is not just a tourist attraction but also a famous patriotic(爱国的) education base in China.
