Giorgio Lo Porto is an Italian living in the UK. On February 6, this young man shared a video of him listening to the sound of his new neighbour’s (邻居的) piano.
Giorgio — who also plays the piano — said that he left a note for his neighbour, telling him that he enjoyed his music. He also asked for a song — “My Heart Will Go On” and it just
delivered.
Then Giorgio left him another note, hoping that they could play something together, even though (尽管) there was a wall between them. He would play the first part of the song, and when he stopped, the neighbour would play the next.
That day at 2 p.m. — the time his neighbour usually played the piano — Giorgio played the first few notes. As soon as he stopped, the neighbour played the following notes!
Then their piano duets (二重奏) became their weekend “meet-up”. They played through their shared wall and finally the time came for them to meet.
“Well, today I met my neighbour,” Giorgio wrote on February 21. “The neighbour was a 78-year-old man named Emil. He’s from Poland, and he lived in the flat when he was waiting for his house to be sold (卖).”
Sadly, Emil lost his wife (妻子) last December. All he has now is his piano, which he played at 2 p.m. every weekend because his late (已故的) wife loved it.
But some days later, Giorgio got word that Emil passed away (去世) in his sleep. “Dear Emil,” Giorgio wrote after that. “I knew very little about you, but you changed my life. You said I was your light, but you are mine too. Bye, Emil.”
