Tom doesn’t like Sundays. He has to go to Sunday school and do homework. He thinks the homework boring(无聊的), but he does it because then he can get a blue ticket(票). If you have ten blue tickets, you can get a red one. If you have ten red tickets, you can get a yellow one. If you have ten yellow tickets, you can get a new book.
Tom has lots of tickets. He isn’t very good at schoolwork, but he is good at trading(做交易). He gives Bill a piece of candy. Bill gives him a yellow ticket. He gets some things by working for others, gives the things to other boys and gets more tickets. Some are blue, some are red, and some are yellow. Finally, he has enough(足够的) to get a new book.
That Sunday, a new girl comes to Sunday school. Her father, a great judge(法官), comes too. The girl is Becky White. The teacher wants to show them that it is a good class. He asks if(是否) anyone has enough tickets for a new book. Tom stands up and everybody is very surprised(惊讶的) to see he has enough tickets. The teacher gives Tom the book, and lets Tom sit with the judge. Judge White says hello to Tom, but Tom can’t speak. He is too nervous(紧张的).
Then the judge asks him an easy question from his homework. Tom does not know the answer. He guesses. He is wrong. He is so wrong!
