Every year, people in the USA celebrate many festivals.
On 1 January they welcome the coming of New Year like people in other countries. April Fool’s Day is on 1 April. On that day, people often play tricks on their friends. Labour Day (劳动节) is on the first Monday of September. People enjoy the day with their friends and families. They go out for boating, picnics, fireworks and other activities.
People also celebrate some festivals for their family members. Children say thanks to their mothers on Mother’s Day on the second Sunday in May. They express their love to their fathers on Father’s Day on the third Sunday in June. On the fourth Thursday in November, people come back home for Thanksgiving Day, so the whole family can stay together.
There are some interesting festivals for children too. For example, Halloween comes at the end of October. Children often make pumpkin lanterns and wear all kinds of special masks and costumes.
The most important festival in the USA is Christmas. After a year’s work and study, people can enjoy a long holiday and have a big dinner with family members and friends.
