The police are looking for robbers (强盗) who stole valuable diamonds (钻石) from the jewellery show at the City Centre yesterday evening. The owner reported that the necklace estimated (估计) to be worth 1.5 million was taken by a young couple. Witnesses said that the couple in their early 20s caught their eyes because they seemed too young to be interested in such expensive jewellery. In his story,a salesman said that the couple were dressed in clothing that seemed too casual (随意的) for the rather formal (正式的) atmosphere of the jewellery show. According to a saleswoman who talked with them, the couple said that they were interested in a special necklace for the woman to wear at their wedding next month. The man said that he was a nationally known athlete,so many reporters would come to the wedding.
The saleswoman left the couple looking at the necklace when she went to help an elderly man who fell out of his wheelchair. Unluckily, when she got back, the couple and the necklace were gone. The police have realized that the old man was part of the robbery plan. The police think the same group of thieves robbed a hotel downtown last month. At that time,a woman was checking in when two men with guns threatened (威胁) the hotel clerk (前台). Although the clerk was very brave,he had to hand over all the money on hand, about 1 500. Strangely, the woman who was checking in didn't seem afraid at all and she disappeared (消失) before the police arrived.
The city has put out an announcement for all the people to keep an eye for anyone that seems to be out of place. The police plan to offer a reward for information that helps to catch the group. Contact the police if you know anything about these robberies. The police are sure to find the stolen necklace quickly.
