The old man is a fisherman. His name is Santiago. Only a boy likes to go fishing with him. The boy is Manolin. He likes to call the old man "Papa".
Manolin: Good afternoon,Papa!
Santiago: Good afternoon,my boy!
Manolin: I'm happy to see you and your boat. Are you OK?
Santiago: Yes,I'm just here. But I still can't get a fish.
In fact, the old man doesn't catch a fish for 84 days. Manolin feels sad for that.
Manolin: That's OK! You are always a great fisherman! You are good at fishing. So you will get a big one very soon.
Santiago: Sure!
I can make it!
Manolin: I want to go fishing with you tomorrow,Papa.
Santiago: Good idea! But your parents don't think so. They think I'm unlucky (倒霉的). You can't get a fish with me.
Manolin: I really want to go with you,but I'm a child,so I have to listen to them.
Santiago: I know that! You always have great faith (信心) in me.
Manolin doesn't say anything. He begins to help the old man pick up (收拾) fishing things.
