Pet detective Yan Zhiyong from Zhengzhou in central China’s Henan Province is one such professional who, after receiving an order, goes to the scene with one to two partners with headlamps, torches (电筒), and other tools necessary for finding missing pets.
Pet detectives’ work is full of challenges. These professionals must be prepared to work long hours, often in difficult conditions, to search for lost pets. They may have to go through strange neighbourhoods or areas, and deal with unfriendly people who are not interested in this case. Moreover, pet detectives must be skilled at understanding animals’ behaviour in order to find missing pets.
Although there’re many challenges, the need for pet detective services (服务) continues to grow in China as more and more pet owners look for help in finding their beloved “fur children”.
