Do you know about storm photographers(摄影师)? They get close to storms to take photos, and have been called “storm chasers(追逐者)”. Liu Yijing is such a person.
Liu Yijing was born and raised in Jiangxi Province. He has been crazy about weather since childhood. While he was in primary school, his favourite TV programme was the weather forecast(预报).
In 2020, chasing storms started to be a part of Liu’s life. The 23-year-old has travelled over 70 000 kilometres across China. He takes photos of storms and shares them online. The young man has become more and more popular. He has been invited to give speeches at universities. CCTV has even begun to use his works. Not long ago, one of his photos was chosen as the cover for Advances in Atmospheric Sciences(《大气科学进展》).
As one of the first storm-chasing photographers, Liu is quite young and excellent. However, there are other things that make him even more special. One day, Liu had a talk with a farmer and was deeply touched by his words. The man told him that a storm had damaged(毁坏) his harvest. He realized that the things he loved could also bring disasters to others. How could people learn more about nature? Then, he decided to start making short videos about extreme(极端的) weather. His videos caught many people’s eyes.
“I hope my efforts can help people better understand nature,” said the storm chaser.
