Franz Schubert was a music giant. He wrote nine symphonies(交响曲), several operas, over 600 songs, and many other musical works. He was also a bridge between the Classical and Romantic times of music.
1.______ His father was a teacher, and he taught young Schubert to play the violin. One of Schubert's brothers also gave him piano lessons.
Schubert had a talent for singing too. That got him into a good school and a place in its boys' choir(唱诗班)in 1808. He learned a lot about music there. And he got really good at writing all kinds of music. 2.______
Back at home, Schubert started working at his father's school. He didn't like teaching, though, and he spent every free moment writing music. 3.______ He also wrote many of his famous songs.
In 1818, Schubert gave up teaching to make music full - time. It was a good move. People liked his music, and they even paid him to write music for them. 4.______ But they didn't make him rich.
Even so, Schubert worked really long and hard. Sadly, his health got worse, and he died at the age of 31 on November 19, 1828. 5.______ His works still touch people today.
