The brave climb down
It was a cold, windy day. Four climbers—David, John, Marcus and Kevin—were trying to climb to the top of the mountain. Their faces were red from the cold, and the wind pushed against them as they climbed higher. They were almost at the top.
Suddenly, David stepped on a loose rock and fell. He hurt his leg badly. “Ow!” he cried.
The others hurried to his side. “Can you get up, David?” Marcus asked. David tried, but the pain was too much. “I think my leg is broken,” he said.
John looked up at the sky. Dark clouds were moving fast. “We have to climb down now!” he warned. “A storm is coming.”
Kevin pointed to the path below. “We have to take David down before it’s too late,” he said. “If we work together, we can help him.”
The three healthy climbers rushed into action. They made a bed out of their ropes for David. “Don’t worry, David,” they said. “We’ll get you down safely.”
The climbers took turns carrying David down the mountain. It was slow and hard work. The snow started falling faster. The wind grew stronger. But they didn’t stop. They kept going, step by step, until they finally reached their camp. They set David down inside a warm tent.
David looked at his friends with tears in his eyes. “Thank you,” he said. “You saved my life.” John smiled and patted David’s shoulder. “We’re a team,” he said. “We always take care of each other.”
