Are you interested in visiting the most beautiful landscapes in the world? Then you must visit the Galapagos Islands! They are in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
There are more than 20 volcanoes in the Galapagos Islands, (1) 13 of them are active! The volcanoes make (2) the local beaches (3) special . The sand on the Galapagos beaches can be black, red (4) green.
These islands are famous for their rare plants and animals, such as giant tortoises. They can weigh nearly 500 kg! They are big, (5) they move very slowly. Like many other Galapagos animals, giant tortoises don’t live anywhere else on the planet. Many of the area’s rare plants and animals give (6) useful information to (7) scientists . These islands help scientists better understand the natural world.
Today, climate change and pollution are putting the Galapagos Islands at risk, (8) local governments are trying to protect them. We hope that they can save the Galapagos Islands.

I stood in front of the dark cave. Was I nervous? (1) was I excited? I wasn’t sure. This was my first tour of a cave. I didn’t know what to expect.
My friendly guide led me into the cave, and the sunlight quickly disappeared. It was so dark inside! We had lights on our helmets, (2) we could still find our way. Together, we climbed carefully over cold, wet rocks. (3) I heard bats flying around above me. ( ) Bats don’t mind the dark because they use sound to find their way. Many cave animals can’t see, (4) they can smell and hear well.
My guide and I walked deeper into the cave. (5) He showed me some beautiful rocks. ( ) These rocks were everywhere. Some hung from the roof, and others grew from the ground. They were in different shapes (6) sizes. What a sight!
Next, I noticed a small underground stream. The guide explained that this water flows into a river outside the cave. (7) It provides drinking water for people. ( ) I learnt that caves store lots of water.
(8) This tour made me excited about caves. ( ) These special environments are full of life, and they are an important part of our world!
