The package(包裹) left by a passenger(乘客) on a bus turned out to be a heart-warming festive gift for the Dragon Boat Festival. It was sent by a local old man to thank the drivers for their hard work.
On Sunday, the first day of the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the bus driver in Nanjing, east China Jiangsu Province, found a bag left on the vehicle at the station.
Wondering who the package belonged to, the driver, Liang Ping, checked the surveillance footage, which showed an elderly man getting on the bus with the cloth bag, but later he got off with empty hands. The driver soon knew that the bag was left by the man, after he found a paper note in the bag, along with some zongzi—a traditional Chinese snack usually eaten on the Dragon Boat Festival.
“These are fresh zongzi along with some salty duck eggs. I would like to give them to the drivers on the line,” read the note by the unknown passenger, which went on by saying “The line has made travel for local people easier, and the drivers are also nice. The zongzi are just some small gifts given to express our appreciation(感激) of your hard work.”
While enjoying the delicious home-made zongzi, Liang told local media that he would also like to express his thanks to passengers for recognizing(认可) his service.
